There are two categories of hot melt glue cleaners: hot melt surface cleaners and hot melt system cleaners.
Hot Melt Surface Cleaners
Surface cleaners for hot melt systems are used to clean the exterior of the system or other machine surfaces. They are used to remove adhesive residue, grease, and grime. These hot melt system cleaners come in spray bottles for quick and easy usage. They typically use mild formulas without harsh chemicals.

Hot Melt System Cleaners (Purge Cleaners)
Purge cleaners for hot melt systems are used to clean the interior of the equipment. Often called "hot melt purge," this type of cleaner comes in either a liquid or solid material that is added directly to the melter during maintenance. As the hot melt tank cleaner flows through the system, it purges contaminants, adhesive buildup, and char from the tank, hoses, and guns.

Cleaning PUR hot melt systems requires a specialized hot melt cleaner that is different from cleaners used for traditional hot melts such as EVA and metallocene.
